About Us
The Strabane and District Old Vehicle Club was formed in 1982 by a group of vintage car enthusiasts from the Strabane area and the first meeting was held in the building in the photograph.
The actual room where the meeting was held is on the right of the entrance steps – this was the British Legion Hall in the grounds of the Courthouse.
It has long since disappeared and meetings are now held in Bready Cricket Club buildings. Meetings take place at 8.00pm on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.
There were 33 founding members and by 1987 it had increased to 52; by 2000 the membership was 124.
Of the founding members 7 are still active in the club :
Bill McCurdy - First Treasurer (and for several years)
Ken McCurdy, Andrew Lindsay, Sammy Moore, William McLaughlin, Maurice McNamee and Robert Lyons.
The Club is proud of its contribution to charities and to date has raised over £14,000.00.
